Transformation Groups Not a New Concept

A few years ago, when we started "Transformation Groups" (some churches call them small groups) at LifeQuest Church, we felt that we were in some ways, "cutting edge." They were not just planned overnight and thrown together, a lot of planning and preparation was involved. Now, as we stand at the precipice of a third year of TG, I stop and reflect that Jesus actually invented Transformation Groups. Don't believe me? Take a look...1) He was a small group leader (about 12 in the inner circle). 2) He was making disciples, not converts. 3)There were two or three in his inner-inner circle (Peter, James and John). 4) They regularly broke bread together. 5) They served together. 6)They did life together. And the list goes on and on...Jesus told us to 'Go, and make disciples of ALL nations.' He never said, 'Attract converts to a building.' He wanted us to 'Connect people to Christ in a way that leads to life transformation.' Hmm. That's catchy. Maybe that should be in our mission statement...till next time, I'm still putty in His hands...
